Secured a place at Cambridge University to study Maths
“She’s simply a genius!” said Economics teacher Rene Bradford. Zhang Xin, or Jessie as we know her at London Bellerbys, is too humble to agree with Rene’s words, but one look at her results and we have to say she is indeed a genius! One of our star A Level students this year with five grade As, Jessie is now just about to begin a new adventure studying Maths at Cambridge University.
So, how does our star student feel about her achievements and time at Bellerbys London? “When I knew that I got A for all subjects, I felt amazing” she said, “ I love the maths course at Bellerbys particularly. Clive and John were my maths teachers. They explained my questions patiently every time. They tried their best to provide me with extra materials when I was preparing the interview and STEP for Cambridge. They always supported me and encouraged me”.
Jessie’s maths teachers, Clive Cubitt and John Mcdarby, were only too happy to help such a wonderful student. Clive describes her as “one of my top students ever”, while John smiles when he remembers all Jessie’s great work as “a remarkable student and an outstanding mathematician”.
Apart from her academic achievements, Jessie was just a great person to have around the place. Always friendly and energetic, and always getting involved in different projects. For example, she was on the Graduation Ball Committee, helping to organise a wonderful event.
Cambridge University awaits and Jessie is looking forward to the challenge with her usual positive spirit. “I'm looking forward to my new life over there. I hope I can make a lot of friends” she says. We are all sure that Jessie will have no problems making friends or with her new academic environment.
As John says, “She thoroughly deserves her place at the University of Cambridge to study Maths and I'm sure she will enjoy the chance to work alongside other talented students and learn from some of the best minds in Mathematics. She will be sorely missed by all of the Maths department here but we all look forward to hearing how she gets on at university!”.
