Letter to the Principal

Dear Andy,

I write to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers who had helped me to go through my A Level years. Special thanks should be given to Clive, John, Paul Farquahar and Jan who had actually taught me in the relevant subjects, I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Paul Langman, Erin, Elizabeth and Paul Singh for their valuable and timely academic advice and support. Their patient and helpful attitude has given me the courage and confidence to go on and completed my A Level programme smoothly.

As an overseas student and for the first time being in a totally unfamiliar country with a different language, I felt really unsafe and many uncertainties upon my arrival in UK. Luckily, I had everyone at Bellerbys to help me to adapt to the new environment. I just felt like being a part of the big family, and the relationships were so close among people.

I really cherish all the good and happy memories in Bellerbys very much. In fact, I learnt quite a lot from all of you. Thank you so much for what you all given me (e.g. warmth and happy times). I will never be able to express how thankful I am for what you and your colleagues did to me.

Moreover, the one I really want to thank most is Jan. To be very honest, I did not really like Chemistry at the beginning as I thought this was a really weird subject. Furthermore, I am quite afraid of Jan at first. He was so serious and strict of everything: he had a planned schedule for his lessons; he got everything ready in his class and required the homework to be handed in on time.

After a few weeks of lessons, I finally know why. Everything in his class was well prepared; everything was taught clearly and you would able to find out what you missed in the lesson through the homework and feedback from him; everything had a spare time to cater sudden events. He is a well planned person. He taught things lively even for the “used-to- be-horrible” Chemistry.

In September last year, while I was struggling for which subject should I take for my university studies. Jan introduced “Pharmacy” to me in detail.  It is a subject combining chemistry and health care. After introducing of this subject, he did not just stop there as normal people did. He tried to link up some pharmacy-related studies to the Chemistry that I was learning at that moment and also to daily life. He helped me to prepare for in my university interviews. Now he had changed his role from a teacher to a friend he helped me to walk out from the college life to university life. The care and concern as well as continual support that Jan provided is a tribute to me for my future. I sincerely and greatly appreciated the time and efforts that he spent in reviewing my career goals and recommending strategies and practical solution for achieving them. His advice was very helpful and gave me a new perspective on available opportunities.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you! I hope you all know how I treasure your hospitality and your many kindnesses to me. If one day, someone asks me where he or she should take their high school studies, I would with no doubt, certainly recommend “Bellerbys London” where I got really enjoyable high school years.

Lastly, thanks again and best wishes to you all.

Yours faithfully,
Alice Chan
