Li Xiao

Li Xiao from China
Studied A Levels at Bellerbys London
Grades achieved: AAAAAa (Accounting, Economics, Further Maths, Maths, Physics & Chinese)
Secured a place at London School of Economics (LSE) to study Maths and Economics

Known at Bellerbys London as Lisa, Li Xiao from China is wonderfully described by Economics teacher Rene Bradford: “Always a smile, always diligent and always has the correct answer!”.  Rene’s comments highlight what a fantastic student Lisa has been, both academically where she has achieved an incredible six grade As, but also socially where she has impressed everyone with her positive character and super friendly nature.

Obviously, to achieve such amazing results, there must be something special about Lisa.  Her maths teacher John Mcdarby certainly thinks so.  “Lisa is one of the most talented and dedicated students we have ever had at Bellerbys London.  She is perfectly suited to studying Maths and Economics at university - she is an incredibly talented mathematician and a very keen and enthusiastic economist - and I am glad that she has achieved her goal of getting a place at LSE.  Lisa is also one of the most kind-natured and friendly students I have ever taught and she will be greatly missed in class next year!”.

Although she showed great dedication to her studies, Lisa also found time to get involved in extra activities.  Sara Bewes, our Extracurricular Events Coordinator, remembers how Lisa co-ran the Graduation Ball “like clockwork” and how her “quiet, but very strong character” helped her also run the Economics club with great success.

Next year Lisa will be taking on all kinds of new challenges at the world renowned London School of Economics.  How does she feel about it?  As always, she has a positive attitude.  “When I studied in Bellerbys, I usually went to LSE to listen to the speeches held there and I was always attracted by the strong study atmosphere there:) I feel really happy that I can study mathematics and economics there which is the course that I am really interested in:) I will make good use of all the resources there and try my best to be successful!”.

Typical of her warm nature, Lisa also had some words for her teachers throughout her time at the school.  “I should say 'thank you' to all my teachers as they are all talented, patient and responsible!  John was always ready to help me and many times he helped me to correct my personal statement during lunch time and after school.  I am not a confident person but every time when I needed courage to challenge myself, Rene and John always talked with me and tried their best to make me believe in myself.  I was really moved when Rene called me 'my daughter'.  Because of them and also my friends in Bellerbys, I always felt a kind of warmth so that I can feel at home”.

We wish Lisa all the luck in the world in feeling at home at LSE too!
