Alisa Popova from Russia
Studied A Levels at Bellerbys London
Grades achieved: A*A*AA
Secured a place at LSE to study Management
To be outstanding in one subject is impressive. To be outstanding in all subjects is something very special indeed and all of us here at Bellerbys London are proud to say that we have been working with someone very special for the past two years: Alisa Popova from Russia. With A* and A grades in Economics, Maths, History and Psychology, Alisa is one of our highest achieving students at Bellerbys London this year and has been rewarded with a place at the London School of Economics (LSE) studying Management.
These results are no surprise at all to us since Alisa has excelled throughout her time at Bellerbys. As History teacher David Rowson says, “Alisa has a questioning mind which enables her to do more than she needs to do to pass. She is very proactive in her studies, as we saw when she got involved in debates and presentations in our History Club”. And she didn’t stop there. As well as excelling academically, Alisa also participated in all kinds of extra-curricular activities, such as attending lectures at LSE, taking part in the Young Enterprise competition, and entering the Corpus Christi College Essay Writing Competition.
In fact, Extra-curricular Events Coordinator Sara Bewes believes Alisa has the prefect character to study Management. “She motivates and directs other people very diplomatically”, says Sara. “She has a great deal of charm, which enables her to relate to other people very well”. Alisa reminds us that student development is not only about achieving high results in your studies, but also about developing socially in order to get ready for the challenges and opportunities university life will bring.
But let us not devalue in any way the amazing academic success Alisa has achieved this summer. Foundation Programme Manager Erin Robinson is certainly one person who knows what a talented student she is. “Alisa has shown an excellent, in-depth understanding of her subjects and very strong evaluation skills”, says Erin. “She has been able to excel in a range of subjects which are both linguistically and conceptually challenging”.
The next challenge for Alisa now is to do well at LSE and we are absolutely certain that she will not let us down. This straight A student full of charm will go on to bigger and better things in the future we are sure.
